What is Holistic Nutrition?

A WHOLE PERSON APPROACH TO HEALTH & NOURISHMENT

Holistic nutrition is a personalized approach to health that looks at your entire being, not just what’s on your plate. It considers the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your life, understanding that true wellness comes from addressing the root causes of imbalance, not just symptoms.

Unlike conventional nutrition advice that offers one-size-fits-all meal plans, holistic nutrition recognizes that your body is unique. What works for someone else may not work for you. Together, we’ll uncover what your specific body needs to thrive.

My holistic approach includes:

How is This Different From Other Nutritionists?

Traditional nutritionists often focus solely on calories, macros, and weight management. As a holistic nutritionist, I look deeper. I consider your digestion, energy levels, hormones, sleep quality, stress, and even your emotional relationship with food. We address the foundations first, getting the basics right so everything else can fall into place.

Areas Holistic Nutrition Can Help

Digestive Issues & Gut Health

Reduce bloating, gas, constipation, IBS symptoms, and other digestive discomfort through targeted nutrition and healing protocols.

Hormonal Imbalances

Support your body through perimenopause, menopause, PMS, irregular cycles, or thyroid concerns with hormone-balancing nutrition.

Low Energy & Chronic Fatigue

Address the root causes of exhaustion and build sustained energy through proper nourishment and blood sugar balance.

Inflammation & Pain

Reduce chronic inflammation that contributes to joint pain, headaches, and other inflammatory conditions through anti-inflammatory nutrition.

Skin Conditions

Clear acne, eczema, psoriasis, and other skin issues by addressing underlying imbalances and nutrient deficiencies.

Food Sensitivities & Allergies

Identify trigger foods, heal your gut lining, and reduce reactions through elimination protocols and reintroduction strategies.

Weight Management

Achieve and maintain a healthy weight that feels sustainable by addressing metabolic health, not just restricting calories.

Mood & Mental Health

Support anxiety, depression, and mood swings through nutrition that stabilizes blood sugar and supports neurotransmitter production.

Sleep Issues

Improve sleep quality and address insomnia through foods and habits that support your circadian rhythm and nervous system.

Autoimmune Conditions

Manage autoimmune symptoms and reduce flare-ups through anti-inflammatory nutrition and gut healing protocols.

Detoxification Support

Support your body's natural detox pathways through nutrition that aids liver function and reduces toxic burden.

Blood Sugar & Metabolic Health

Stabilize blood sugar, reduce cravings, and support insulin sensitivity to prevent or manage pre-diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

Is Holistic Nutrition Right For You?

You're in the Right Place If:

This approach works best for women who are curious about their health, ready to make changes, and interested in understanding the “why” behind their symptoms.

Hi, I am Dawne Sullivan

Reiki Master, Coach & Mentor, Cold Immersion Guide, Breathwork Facilitator, Holistic Nutritionist

I’ve been where you are. I spent much of my life with a poor relationship with food, feeling disconnected from my body, and struggling to build better habits. In my 30s, this shifted when I started viewing food as nourishment rather than the enemy. Over time, I became passionate about natural health and went back to school to become a Holistic Nutritionist.

I believe in getting the basics right so you can move forward in your best health. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, but there are foundational principles that work for every body.

You were born to shine.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW IS YOUR APPROACH DIFFERENT?

My approach is whole body, nervous system led, body-based, and deeply supportive, not prescriptive or extreme.

Instead of starting with rigid rules, I start with:

  • Regulation before restriction
  • Awareness before willpower
  • Safety before change

I blend:

  • Functional nutrition principles
  • Somatic practices, breathwork, and yoga
  • Mind-body education
  • Gentle lifestyle shifts that work in real life (little hinges swing big doors)

This isn’t about “fixing” your body. It’s about learning how to work with it. We focus on how you eat, rest, move, and live, not just what you do.

I don’t replace medical care or diagnose conditions. My work complements traditional healthcare by addressing lifestyle, stress, and mind-body patterns that are often overlooked. I take a mind, body, and spirit approach.

Not really, but I work with:

  • Blood sugar balance
  • Midlife transitions and women feeling disconnected from their bodies
  • Women who want a softer, more intuitive approach to health
  • Self-care so we can give the best of us, not what’s left of us

Much of my work resonates especially with women who are:

  • Putting themselves last on their lists
  • 40+ and have spent years disconnected from their bodies and what they need
  • Just “pushing through”
  • Moving through midlife shifts and redefining themselves

No, and that’s intentional. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all diets or rigid food rules.

Instead, I focus on:

  • Blood sugar stability
  • Gentle structure
  • Nourishment over restriction
  • Understanding why your body responds the way it does

Food is used as a supportive tool, not a source of stress or control.

Absolutely! While I offer in-person consultations in Newmarket, Ontario, I work with clients across Ontario and internationally through virtual consultations via Zoom or phone. Virtual sessions are just as effective as in-person appointments—you’ll receive the same personalized attention, comprehensive support, and detailed recommendations.

I offer standalone appointments, but I find that packages offer more accountability and greater success.

There’s no pressure for long-term commitment, but those who choose continued support often experience deeper, more sustainable change.

Most health plans don’t cover my services, but some do. You’ll need to check with your specific insurance provider before booking. I’m happy to provide a receipt for you to submit for potential reimbursement, but I recommend confirming coverage first to avoid any surprises.
